Renowned for designing and manufacturing high-quality food processors, Magimix revolutionised the catering industry over forty years ago with the invention of the world’s first food processor. Today, Magimix continues to lead kitchen innovation, empowering home cooks to achieve professional results with remarkable ease, efficiency, and quiet operation.
A History of Magimix
Magimix: inventors of the world’s first food processor
In a small village in Burgundy, back in 1961, friends Pierre Verdun and Robert Comte dreamt up the first food preparation machine. Simple but effective, it consisted of a pot with a blade at the bottom that could chop, grind, shred and knead. A patent quickly followed, and the Robot Coupe food processor was launched in 1963.
A kitchen icon is born
Aimed at professional chefs, this innovative and efficient machine quickly gained popularity and was soon an international success. Envious of the hours of prep work saved, Comte’s wife requested a smaller version for use in her own kitchen. Her entrepreneurial husband obliged and on 1st March 1971, the first compact domestic food processor was born and christened ‘Magimix’.
A mark of quality
Magimix food processors are still made by hand in France – the maker identified by a unique number, stamped on the bottom of each machine. The blades and discs are all produced in Sabatier stainless-steel and are made in Thiers, the French heart of knife-making.
An icon of utility and design, this versatile and intuitive machine has stood the test of time – empowering cooks the world over to achieve professional results effortlessly.
The ultimate sous-chef
The Magimix food processor boasts an industrial-grade, direct-drive induction motor that intuitively adjusts its power to the task at hand. With just three buttons to operate, this easy-to-use kitchen workhorse makes light work of slicing, grating, whisking, kneading, emulsifying and more – replacing the need for several other appliances and saving you time and space in the kitchen. What’s more it’s one of the quietest on the market, with the Magimix food processors, blenders and juicer all Quiet Mark accredited.
Loved by chefs and home cooks alike
Celebrated French chef Paul Bocuse (1926-2018) was one of Magimix’s first fans. He used a Magimix for all his professional life. And many others have followed suit: from Jamie Oliver to Pru Leith, Lisa Faulkner, Mary Berry, Yotam Ottolenghi, Rick Stein and several other cooking show contestants besides.
